Civil War event washed out!
The 2013 Hayes Civil War Reenactment goes down in our record book as being the first time the event was canceled. (The reenactment has taken place every year since 1991!)
Heavy rain started shortly before noon on Saturday, Oct. 5 and continued for more than an hour. The record rainfall flooded the Union Army camp and Sutlers' Row with more than four inches of water. The conditions necessitated cancellation of Saturday events after 3 p.m. With more rain in the forecast, it was decided to also cancel all events scheduled for Sunday.
A Union reenactor participating in the Reenactment provided these images of conditions on the grounds of Spiegel Grove.
