'GroveFest' focuses on nature/families
The grounds of Spiegel Grove provide ample opportunity to commune with nature - whatever the season.
Experiencing nature and the outdoors is the focus of the Hayes Presidential Center’s summertime family event GroveFest, which takes place Saturday, July 27
. Afternoon and evening components make for a full day of fun.

Hands-on activities for All ages are in abundance during Nature at the Grove from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Celebrity auctioneer Jerry Anderson of WTOL-11 and Fox Toledo TV headlines the Bid at the Grove Auction FUNdraiser from 6-10 p.m. in a reception tent located in First Lady Lucy Hayes’ Rose Garden.

Co-title sponsor of the 2013 GroveFest is the Fremont Company, makers of Snofloss sauerkraut, Mississippi BBQ sauce, and Frank's products.In its third year, GroveFest continues to evolve as it seeks to provide interesting and educational opportunities that families can enjoy together. The 25 acres of the Grove are a state park that is open to the public dawn to dusk year-round. GroveFest hopes to help visitors appreciate the natural wonders available in all parks.
» Admission to Nature at the Grove events is free of charge. Among the interactive activities that can be enjoyed by are: bird banding, wagon rides, “Bucket Mouth Bass” fishing game, make-it-take-it events (using flowers, greenery, etc.), fly-tying, wildlife art, gardening, and a scavenger hunt for kids. The Toledo Zoo and Humane Society are bringing some 'furry friends,' as is StarGazer Farm Suri Alpacas. Back to the Wild will be on site with animals they are trying to return to the wild and will conduct two programs on wildlife. Dog owners are invited to register their canine friends for the first ever Pooch on the Porch Parade. click here for a registration form.
» Laughter and merriment are in store when you purchase a ticket to the Bid at the Grove Auction thanks to the lively style and quick wit of TV personality Jerry Anderson, who is a licensed auctioneer. He is the reason the Auction has been dubbed a FUNdraiser. Auction festivities are flavored with a patriotic theme. Food temptations are hors d’oeuvres best described as being by “Executive Order” – they are favorites of U.S. Presidents. We invite everyone to join in the patriotic spirit by wearing red, white & blue. Food, wine, beer, and other refreshments are available all evening as you bid on auction items, participate in games, and join in raffles. Tickets are $100 per person.
